5 Things To Notes in President Buhari’s message to Nigeria at 61. This past year has been rough one for Nigeria.State of Nigeria’s Economy at 60
Firstly, we saw the depreciation in the value of Naira to its lowest value of all time. One dollar exchanged at 580. But there is no challenge we cannot overcome when we stand together as a community.
Secondly, due to the fall in dollar, food items became so costly. There is virtually nothing that didn’t rise up. Famine is on the verge engulfing most Nigerins. Food to eat has become a scarce commodity. Our source of income remained the same. But essential commodities is inaccessible to the poor man.
Even with that, most Nigerians are still hopeful. They are fighters. They have continued to strive hard to better their lives. Nigerians believe in the oneness of the country even as they pass through the trying times.
Thirdly, the agitations of Biafra and Oduduwa republic are two triggering factors hindering the development of Nigeria. It is also a factor questioning the existence of Nigeria as one. A lot Nigerians are waiting to see the independence day to ascertain whether Nigeria would remain an entity or they break and go their seperate ways.
The Agitations for Seperation By Nnamdi Kanu and Sunday Igboho
The Indigenous People of Biafra movement has become more deadly. It is also a factor questioning the existence of Nigeria. Even though Nnamdi Kanu their leader, has maintained that it was a movement to cut the Southwest out Nigeria, violence has persist.
The IPOB have continued to terrorized the Southeast in the name of Unknown gunmen, killing innocent Nigerians that reside in their area. It is like a death zone for non Igbo speaking Nigerians. Infact even the Northern leaders have warned their members not to travel to the Eastern states. Only if it were to be a life threatening situation.
The Oduduwa agitations on the other hand, started like a movement for the emacipation of the Oduduwa republic. But gradually, it also turned deadly after the members started killing non Yoruba speaking Nigerians. The situation was arrested after their leader Sunday Igboho was arrested.
At 61 Nigerian has achieved a lot in terms of infrastructural development, education and in health. We are not there yet but we are striving to make a difference amongst the African countries. Being the giant of Africa. Although Terrorism and Banditry are two lingering security setbacks hampering the development and existence of Nigeria.
Five Things To Note in President Buhari Independence Speech
Have we really achieved our laid down objectives as a country?. Let’s analysed 5 items from President Buhari’s independence speech at 60.
1. That Nigeria is for all of us. Its unity is not negotiable. And its ultimate success can only be achieved if we all come together with a common goal of having peace and prosperity for our nation.
2 .That Nigeria will continue to work on dialogue based solutions to address legitimate grievances. But we remain ready to take decisive actions against secessionist agitators and their sponsors who threaten our national security.
3. That the recent arrests of Nnamdi Kanu and Sunday Adeyemo, and the ongoing investigations being conducted have revealed certain high-profile financiers behind these individuals. We are vigorously pursuing these financiers including one identified as a serving member of the national assembly.
4. According to President Buhari, that the sponsorers of agitations for seperation of Nigeria are enemies of the country. They bring disunity amongst Nigeria.
Furthermore, he maintained that their call for seperation stand as a clear example of how people abandon their national leadership positions for their selfish gains. Hence instead of preaching unity, they are funding and misleading our youth to conduct criminal acts that sometimes lead to unfortunate and unnecessary loss of lives and property.
5. President Buhari also said the so-called leaders run abroad to hide, our innocent youths are misled and left in the streets to fight for their senseless and destructive causes are cowards. Nigeria will remain United and stand as one.
In conclusion, although Nigeria’s state of economy is in its lowest and many Nigerians are suffering, the unity of the country should be paramount. Hence we should remain resolute and committed to our national cause. We should continue to pray for the unity of Nigeria. And for better leaders to be elected. United we stand, divided we fall.
Sahara News Watch Independence Message To Nigerians
Though our teething problems as a nation seems to be too protracted as a result of the long carelessness and reckless abandonment on the part of both our leadership and the followership alike in confronting the challenges frontally.
Nevertheless, we have got to be thankful for the little things that, we have achieved together as a nation.
It’s not yet uhuru, but certainly there is light at the end of the tunnel. We MUST not failed in realizing the mission and vision of our founding fathers, else, all of us would be adjudged to have failed woefully.
We MUST begin to make conscious efforts in order to apply that right “teething remedy” for the definite end of our teething challenges.
We MUST be able to placed national interest over and above our individual interests.
Our youths MUST bluntly refused to be used as a tool for the disintegration or destruction of this “enviable construct” that has endured all sorts of turbulence over the 61 years of its existence, and still standing tall and occupying an enviable position even in the eyes of the comity of nations.
We MUST admit that, we have all failed, so that we can begin to find the right teething remedy for our malaise of over six decades now.
The time to concentrate on finding the soothing balm for our myriads of challenges is now, we MUST not loose this opportunity, we MUST make the best use of it.
